Now is a great time to audit your social media.

Audit is just a fancy word for reviewing things.

We all have days when we don’t feel creative, even me! Pherhaps your September back to school energy hasn’t arrived or has taken a knock with the change of weather and seasons.

Instead of sitting and feeling frustrated or trying to force yourself to write content that’s not going to feel great, now is a great time to conduct a social media audit! You can be productive and improve your social media presence without the need for creativity.

September is a great time to do an audit.

If you took a summer break and need to dust off the cobwebs and get back to posting, then an audit will help you refamiliarize yourself with each account you have and what messaging it’s been sharing. Even if you have been actively posting recently, it’s easy to get caught up in creating posts and forget to maintain other aspects of your account.

Links are a prime example of this.

Are yours still relevant?

If you’re not in the habit of giving your account a regular check over, then I’m guessing those links could be months, even years old, and many of them are no longer relevant to what your business offers.

As I write this, the kids are back in their routine, and we are heading into the last quarter of the year. Which we know gets busy with activities and social commitments. If it also happens to be a busy time for your business, then I wish you luck and suggest that now is a great time to spruce up your socials so that they are ready to support your success. Doing it now means you won’t have to find the brain space to fix or correct something when you are frazzled.

I know time is precious as a self employed parent. I’m in the thick of it too, with a tweenager and a toddler. But an audit doesn’t have to be long winded and difficult. Taking 5-10 minutes to look things over with an easy guide of what to check will help you identify updates and information gaps that could be costing you customers, will save you time dealing with confused enquiries in the long run.

By looking at your insights and taking note of which content has worked well, you will regain time by only spending your effort on creating content that people want to see and where they want to see it. As well as ensuring you get the best results for your efforts.

Maybe not all your platforms are needed. Some could just be placeholders redirecting them to somewhere that’s more efficient for you.

A good audit should help you note down where your socials are at, so that you can track the progress from any changes you make by looking at your analytics.

Good doesn’t have to mean expensive either. I have created a DIY audit tool- download a copy here.

So what are you waiting for “happy auditing.”
