Mum’s in business: The secret to growing your business without sacrificing family time or your sanity is not to do it all yourself.
Being a mum and running a business means you’re juggling a lot. Between school runs, client work and trying to keep the house in order. That’s a lot of weight on one person's shoulders. The reality is there’s only so much one person can do.
It’s easy to see why you feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. If you focus too much on one thing, then you feel guilty for dropping the ball somewhere else.
( Hello, housework that’s rarely done.)
Bringing in support like a virtual assistant isn’t about losing control of your business. It’s about taking the pressure off you, so that you can focus on what matters most and create the manageable balance you’ve been craving.
Many people get affected by comparisonitis; they look at other people in their network and think, “ They are doing it all, I should be able to manage it too.”
But remember, you only see what they choose to share. Do you know for sure they are doing all of the work? They may well show up online, and you see their video, but someone else could have edited, formatted, and scheduled that video for them whilst they were on the school run, or at a client meeting.
If you stay in a state of being too busy all the time with the day to day practicalities, you are going to find it nearly impossible to work on growing the business to achieve your goals, without making sacrifices elsewhere. Such as giving up time with your family, and I know you don’t want to miss those moments.
That’s not to say there won’t be sacrifices along the way, because there always will but it’s about turning them into acceptable compromises.
Getting help in your business is not a sign that you’re not good enough, far from it! It shows how serious you are about what you do. When you find the right support, it won’t even feel difficult instead, it will be a relief to collaborate with a like minded person to achieve your goals.
Protecting your time allows all aspects of your life to flourish.
With the right support in place, you could find yourself enjoying Friday night pizza and a film with the family instead of feeling guilty because you’re only half involved with the laptop on your lap. All because your VA has got the laptop work done whilst you were doing the money making tasks.
A dedicated person focusing on one task means the outcomes are better. For example, getting assistance with content creation will result in more consistency in your content and marketing, which aids your business's visibility.
One of my long standing clients recently did a time audit in her life and realised she spent 37 hours a week on mum/caring responsibilities. When she added that up, she was blown away by the reality. She knew she didn’t have time to carve out time to do all the content creation she wanted, we do that together. She gives me her message, and I make the visual to support it. In her words, “With everything else going on, I wouldn’t show up at all sometimes if I didn’t have you there.”
Knowing she doesn’t have to do the parts of content creation that she finds hard work makes the bits she finds easy, is manageable in her schedule.
If you’re tired of feeling like content creation is yet another thing on your never ending to-do list, let me help.
My done with you content creation package is designed to take the pressure off and give you more time to focus on what matters most to you.
