Nurture Your Social Media Organically, Before You Spend a Penny on Ads.
I want to start by saying this blog is not here to diss paid ads. It’s just my opinion based on my own experience of what can be done without them.
Organic content has been freely published on a platform, and its performance and success happens naturally.
There are lots of reasons I focus on organic content support. The first is my own business journey. When I started out, I didn’t have any capital to use, so I worked on a “spend as you earn” philosophy. Building a social media presence is a great way to begin marketing a business for free. I focused on learning how to improve my content without spending cash.
Secondly, there is so much that can be achieved organically; finances don’t need to be a limiting factor in the success of your social media profiles.
Getting the foundations of your content right is about knowing what audience you want to attract and writing content that resonates with them. Consistency plays a huge role in the results you achieve on your socials. You need to be sharing a consistent message so it’s easy for your followers to know, like, and trust you. As well as showing up consistently so that you stay front of mind to people.
If you have been in my world a while, you’ll know I don’t stress too much about the algorithm because they are always changing, but consistency is one point that will never change. Because the platforms want you to spend time there.
Being consistent is one of the biggest problems most small business owners face, it takes time and effort. Which is hard to maintain when juggling family life and all aspects of running a business.
There is a common misconception that if your isn’t getting the results you want, then paying to boost it or running an ad is the solution. This really isn’t the case. You’re paying for increased visibility for that post. But if the content itself isn’t hitting the mark to get people to take action, then you’re wasting money showing it to more people. So organic should always come first.
My recommendation is that before you spend money on paid content, invest some of that cash into improving your organic content. A one-off session with me could get your creative juices flowing to make sure the content you may later turn into an ad is as successful as possible.
You might even find that after we work on your content together, you no longer need to spend on ads at all. As your organic content works beautifully to get you results.
There absolutely is a right time to spend on ads, and that’s when your organic content is performing well and you want it to reach more people. To get the most from your ad spend, you need a clear strategy of who you want this content to reach. To get the results you need ads need to be well structured.
I find the creative side of content more fun than the data that creeps in when running ads, That’s another reason I work on the organic content.
So I hope that explains why I am all about organic content. If you think your content could do with a bit of TLC to improve its performance, let’s chat..
