Your chaos is content, use it to your advantage.
The world is seeing so much AI-generated content, and people are really craving genuine human interaction. Social media is back to being social in a way.
The fact that life is never dull in the countryside gives rural based businesses the edge over the city corporate business model because that calf that keeps escaping, rushing for the school run in your wellies or being late for plans because the tractor’s broken down,. Whilst they are frustrating to you, these moments of chaos make great relatable content.
So use them to your advantage, take what feels like chaos, and make it help you somehow. Personally, I find that nature and all the craziness that comes with this life teach me something and often allow me to draw a parallel to apply to business. These musings make for storytelling content, people love a story.
Running a small business means people are buying into you. The more you take your audience along on your journey, the quicker and easier you’ll build their trust to make them want to buy from you.
Using your reality as part of your content will also make your life easier. No more worrying about being Instagram presentable, show up as you are, people will appreciate seeing the real you.
Think of it as the opposite of Photoshop and AI.
But please don’t think this means you have to share every aspect of your life on socials. It’s still perfectly possible to share your chaos to your advantage and have boundaries.
When you embrace using everyday moments as part of your connection building content, you will lose that feeling of “I don’t know what you post.” Because you’ll see content opportunities everywhere that allow you to socialize with your audience and show them your lived experience. It won’t happen overnight, it’s a gradual habit change. But like most things, the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
I’ve certainly felt this shift in myself since moving to the farm and being more immersed in outdoor life.
If, like many of the business owners I speak to, you find selling icky, then your chaos helps you with it. When you share more content in general, then adding in the sales posts won’t feel pushy anymore, because you’re not just showing up when you have something to sell. What's more, your audience will be more likely to respond with a purchase because they have become invested in your journey and can see the value in what you are offering them.
Now that you can see just how much you have to post about, the next question is whether your account is actually set up to help you turn content into enquiries, because even if your content stands out, it still needs support from the fine details to make for a smooth customer experience.
I offer a free 30 minute content audit call, so that we can quickly and easily see what’s working well for you and where you have gaps that need to be filled in. To book in message me.
If you’d like more regular support to help you grow your content into clients more naturally, let’s chat about working together long term.
