How ‘The Rule of One’ Can Make Content Creation Easier for Busy Mums in Business.
I know the constant need to create content to market your business is a cause of stress to time poor mums, who are already juggling so much.
I found a writing framework that simplified my content creation and has been a game changer for me, so read on and let me share with you how it works and the benefits of using it.
Its called “The rule of one.” The framework was devised by a lady called Jo Wiebe.
The idea is that whatever type of content you’re creating aims to do one thing. You write for one person, using one hook to draw their attention, you make one point, and you finish with one call to action. It’s as simple as that. But the benefits to you and your audience are huge.
Having a writing structure to follow makes writing easier, and making something easier saves you time. These are the first two wins of using this concept. I know they are big wins for women who work in limited time slots around life as a mum.
When you’re passionate and enthusiastic about what you do, it's easy to get carried away and go off on tangents in your writing. The trouble with that is when you go off on a tangent, the original point you were trying to make gets forgotten. Even if you loop back to it, the strength of its impact on the reader is weaker because you distracted them.
The rule of one prevents this because any tangents should be taken out of the content and made into their own piece. Once you get used to writing in this way and spotting tangents, you will find you have much more content to use. Instead of lengthy posts full of also, and another thing, each of these will become a post.
Tip: I like to have a separate piece of paper next to me when writing to capture the tangent ideas on.
So far, I’ve explained how this writing structure saves you time and helps you create more content. It also improves the results your content gets because focusing on one thing creates a much clearer message and without, your audience will find it easier to hear the point you’re trying to make and feel more compelled the action you ask them to take.
Cute lambs are a great distraction but you don’t want distractions in your written copy ;-)
With clearer, more impactful messaging that is easier to write, your content will be keeping you on track to achieving your overall goals, because you will find it easier to drive people towards the action you need.
I hope this blog has inspired you to give “the rule of one” a try. If you have any questions or want help with trying it out, pop me a message. I’d love to chat about it with you.
